Elias Harissis was born on 11 February 1957 in Volos of Thessaly, Greece. He studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts - ASFA (1977-1982) and received a painting degree with honors and a diploma of historical and theoretical studies. He received the following awards: International Award in painting, silver medal, 15th Biennial of Alexandria, Alexandria (1984); Commemorative Diploma, Biennale Internazionale Del Arte Contemporane, Florence, Italy (1999); and Honorary Distinction in World Festival of Art on Paper, Bled, Slovenia (2001).
